Health & Safety

Llain Activity Centre, in partnership with sister company ‘Activity Pembrokeshire’ are proud to be licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service, (part of the H&S executive) to provide adventure activities to under 18s.

Since 1997 all activity providers must have a Government licence (ALAA). An independent inspection that covers a wide range of health and safety issues looking at risk assessments and emergency procedures. The inspection also looks at internal training, how staff are monitored and the recording of any Health & Safety concerns. All safety equipment (climbing harnesses and buoyancy aids etc..) is properly maintained and all paperwork relating to these equipment checks are also reviewed at the annual ALAA inspection.

The Llain Activity Centre/Activity Pembrokeshire license can be viewed at

AALS – Activity Pembrokeshire Ltd (hse.gov.uk)

Any activities that are not covered by the licence are taught by instructors with the relevant NGB qualifications, or who have undergone comprehensive ‘in house training’ and assessments delivered by our senior staff and technical advisers. Our ‘Centre File’ contains all information about our business along with Risk assessments, Operating instructions, staff qualifications for all activities as well as all our policies.

All Instructional staff hold First Aid certificates, have undergone DBS enhanced disclosure checks and are encouraged to attend regular continued professional development (CPD) courses.
